. . . And Now, A Whale-Riding Sea Lion off Baja California

Sea lions have been recorded doing some remarkable things, not least of which eating sharks. Now, we can (officially) add gray whale-riding to their repertoire.
One notable whale specialist seems to have good faith that this warm-blooded exchange may even be intentional:
“Interspecies play involving whales is not unheard of,” explains whale scientist and comparative anatomist Dr. Joy Reidenberg, “but catching it on film is amazing. It is delightful to see. I think it is on purpose, not accidental!”
