On Saturday night, the Surf Industry Manufacturer’s Association held its 26th Annual Waterman’s Ball at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. Above the waves of Salt Creek Beach, SIMA honored Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz with its lifetime achievement award (also honored for environmentalist of the year was Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Ferrell, while pro surfer Steph Gilmore was honored as Water(wo)man of the Year). Enjoy this most excellent tribute by Moses Paskowitz, Matt Weaver and Surfwise director Doug Pray. If you have a little more time, here’s a great series of interviews I did with the Paskowitz family for The Scuttlefish in the wake of writing Doc’s obituary for The New York Times. CD
