In Florida, A Bobcat Caught a Shark in the Surf

Florida photographer John Bailey was walking along Vero Beach in Sebastian Inlet State Park on Monday evening when he caught sight of this bobcat eying a shark (perhaps an adult Atlantic Sharpnose Shark/Rhizoprionodon terraenovae) feeding on smaller fish in the shallows. Then, deftly, it pounced, emerging from the sea foam with a fish nearly its same size. Only in Florida.

Sadly, Bailey may have gotten too close in his excitement and spoiled the otherwise unabashed beast’s dinner, because it jetted off into the woods. Hopefully it regained its appetite and returned to its prize catch.
