“The Cape St. Francis sequence in Endless Summer is surf moviemaking’s perfect sphere. Our Pythagorean ideal,” writes Scuttlefish friend and walking surf encyclopedia Matt Warshaw.

Warshaw, who may just be the world’s biggest surf-history nut, gave the sequence a fresh edit. He says he put the film clip through Final Cut Pro a hundred times. We believe him.

If you’ve never seen Endless Summer, even if you don’t have the slightest inclination toward surfing, watch this clip. If you have seen Bruce Brown’s 1966 classic, we don’t have to tell you to watch it; you’ll probably do so twice.

Read more about the film on Warshaw’s site, Encyclopedia of Surfing, and book by the same name. — OJB
