Heroic Friend Fights Tiger Shark Hand and Foot, Rescues Woman
by Owen James Burke
On Friday, 34-year-old Mackenzie Clarke was surfing when a 12-foot shark grabbed her and began dragging her into deeper water when her friend, Brian Wargo, got between them.
Watch the video:

He then grabbed the dorsal fin of the shark and began striking it with his hands and feet, recalling that he felt like he was going to break his hands.
“About the fifth time I hit it I felt the shark shudder and head out to sea.”
Then the two paddled back in and, other than bite marks to her hand, feet and board, Ms. Clarke is fine, and apart from some badly bruised mitts, Wargo is in good shape, too.
What’s might Ms. Clarke be feeling? “Relief, gratitude, luck. Yeah, all of that.”
When asked if there were any hard feelings, she told ABC News — as cool as you like — “I love sharks, and I think they’re beautiful.”
And of course, the question the public loves to ask: is she going back out? She says she’s going to need some time (…but of course she is!).
