Cape. Lookout! An Unbelievable Fall Feeding Frenzy.
by Chris Dixon
A frame grab from a video posted by Brian Recker to Facebook.
In fall, massive schools of mullet and other baitfish migrate southward along the Atlantic Coast. At Cape Lookout, North Carolina, where a long spit of sand juts well out into the Atlantic near the Gulf Stream, the amount of autumn food available for species like blacktip sharks, obviously incredible. The number of sharks feeding on them in this clip however, is truly mind boggling. I’ve grown up on the coast of the Carolinas and have never seen anything like this.

Dang. And to think I was considering heading up that way later this week to catch the swell from Gonzalo. — CD
