Bioluminescent Magic in Puerto Rico with Philippe Cousteau

Dinoflagellates are some of the most prolific marine plankton in the world, but Pyrodinium bahamense, a type of dinoflagellate, are only found — in large concentrations, that is — in a few places on earth. Puerto Rico is one of those places, where, when the sun sets, you can hire a guide to take you out into the middle of one of the territory’s lagoons or bays and suspend while nocturnal shrimp and sardines dance through the “glowing liquid fire” all around you.
