A Shark That Eats Polar Bears
by brian lam
These incredible Greenland sharks can survive for more than 200 years at depths of up to 600 metres under Arctic ice. Bigger than the notorious great white, they grow to 23-feet long and are so fearsome they have even been known to eat polar bears.
It should be added that it is entirely possible that the sharks just eat carcasses of polar bears. Dunno.

Why not so incredible – It’s a pretty typical shark. Seen at 2200 meters, not particularly fearsome, no real data on lifespan.
Why incredible – Flesh is toxic, unless fermented. Ingredient in Icelandic delicacy “Hákarl”. Very strange bite patterns on seals.
Confusion about age – “The Greenland shark has repeatedly been documented (captured or washed ashore) in the Saguenay since at least 1888.” This is NOT referring to the capture of the SAME SHARK since 1888.
