Curly, the first Atlantic Great White Shark to Be Filmed in 30 Years

by Owen James Burke

This female shark named “Curly” is the first Atlantic Great White Shark to be filmed underwater in over thirty years, and at 18 feet, it is among the largest ever filmed.

This is a twelve-foot juvenile Great White, which the team is attempting to tag while it is stalking seals in merely 5 feet of water along a beach just outside of Chatham Harbor, Massachusetts. There have been several spotted in the area during the last year, and many believe that it may be due to an influx in the local seal population.
