Watch a kiteboarder break the world wind-powered speed record
by brian lam
About a week ago, Alex Caizergues hit 54.x knots on a kiteboard, averaging over 500 meters in 45 knots of wind. Look at all the rocks in the area.
In 1972, the record was 26.3 knots using a boat called Crossbow, in England, and 36 knots per hour in 1982 in Crossbow II. Then, a Spanish windsurfer hit +38 knots while windsurfing. In 2008, kiteboarding took over the title when Robert Douglass, an American, hit nearly 50 knots.
